Rules & terms

Short version: you pay to put your YouTube video on a country. Someone can pay 1.5× to take it. No refunds. That's war.

How it works

• Every country has a price. Unclaimed countries start at their base price.
• When you claim a country, a pin with your YouTube thumbnail is placed on it and links to your video. Every pin is the same size.
• When pins overlap, the one with the highest price shows its thumbnail on top. The others show as small pins until you zoom in.
• Anyone can take a country from you at any time by paying 1.5× what you paid. Your video stays up until that happens.
• You can claim many countries at once with a campaign, or the whole world in one go.
• If two people try to buy the same country at the same moment, only the first confirmed payment wins. The other payment is cancelled or refunded in full automatically.

What you are buying

You are buying a digital advertising placement on THUMBWAR: your thumbnail and video link shown on a country for as long as nobody takes it from you. You are not buying land, rights, ownership or any guaranteed amount of time, views or clicks. Click counts are shown for fun and are not a guarantee.

Content rules

• Links must point to a real, public YouTube video. The site checks every link with YouTube.
• No sexual content, graphic violence, hate, harassment, scams, malware, impersonation or anything illegal, in the thumbnail or the video.
• You must own or have the rights to use the thumbnail you upload.
• We can remove any thumbnail or link that breaks these rules without a refund. The country stays yours until someone takes it.

Refund policy

All completed purchases are final and non-refundable, including when someone takes your country a minute later. That is the game. Payments that lose a race are cancelled or refunded in full automatically. If you were charged because of a technical error on our side, email us within 14 days and we will fix it or refund you.

Payments

Payments are processed securely by our payment provider (Dodo Payments, PayPal or Stripe). We never see or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars.

Privacy

We store what is needed to run the game: the video link, video title, channel name, uploaded thumbnail, order amounts and an anonymous visitor id for the online counter. Your payment provider shares your payment status with us. We don't sell data and don't use advertising trackers.
